The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program is the province’s economic immigration program. The program works in partnership with the Government of Canada through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Foreign workers, students, and other experienced skilled workers can apply for the OINP nomination.
There are three ways to qualify for the nomination:
Employer job offer category: For workers who already have a permanent job offer from the Ontario employer. The employer offer job in three streams.
Foreign worker stream: For workers in a skilled position
International student stream: For recent graduates in Ontario
In-Demand skills stream: For skilled workers in specific sectors such as agriculture, construction, trucking, and personal support workers
Human capital category: Human capital category can be sub-categorized as
Ontario’s Express Entry stream: Workers who have valuable work experience, education, language skills and profile in Canada’s Express Entry system. To qualify under this stream, the individual must have received a notification of interest from Ontario.
Graduate students. To qualify under the Masters Graduate or Ph.D. Graduate streams, the student should have a graduate degree from an eligible Ontario university and apply within two years of getting the degree.
Business Category: Business category is for entrepreneurs looking to start a new business or buy and grow an existing business in Ontario.
Application procedure
Once the applicant is sure of the stream to be applied, make sure to have all the relevant documents to be submitted. The application can be done online through ONIP e-filing Portal. Once the nomination is accepted, apply for permanent residence through IRCC. The Government of Canada makes the final decision on Permanent resident.
